ExOfficio Introduces All New Insect Shield® Collection for Spring 2008

EPA Approved Insect Shield® Repellent Technology Now Lasts Through 70 Washings

June 22, 2007: Tukwila, WA – Travelers, anglers and outdoor enthusiasts no longer have to be conservative in the washing of their ExOfficio Insect Shield® apparel as the Insect Shield® repellent technology now lasts through 70 washings – almost three times more than previously stated. ExOfficio will present its new Insect Shield® travel and outdoor performance apparel at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, August 9-12, 2007 in Salt Lake City, UT.

ExOfficio’s Insect Shield® apparel features insect repellency and sun protection built into the garment, allowing adventure travelers and outdoor aficionados to stay outside longer and better enjoy their experience.

The Spring/Summer 2008 Insect Shield® collection offers several new fresh and modern looking pieces designed specifically for men and women, and includes core items and best sellers that have positioned ExOfficio as the innovator in performance adventure and backcountry travel apparel.

Insect Shield® Highlights

With its streamlined and contemporary design, the new Halo Ultralite Nylon shirt ($85 SRP) targets the adventure traveler and outdoor enthusiast who appreciate style. The Halo offers many unique details hidden in the design such as a snap front closure, sleek multi-entry chest pockets, back panel ventilation for enhanced breathability, and a no-flap hidden button down collar. Styled for both men and women, the Halo is available in solid colors or as a check. Colors for men include white, marine, light palm, marine check and khaki check. Women’s colors include white, marine, light palm, pale blossom, blossom check and marine check.

For muggy and buggy environments, ExOfficio created the Insect Shield® Bayou shirt ($75 SRP) Bayou is for men and women who want a lightweight, cotton rich shirt that has the performance of a synthetic. Made of Blended Ultralite (55% cotton/45% nylon), the Bayou is a button front shirt that features roll-up sleeve tabs and locker loop. Colors for both men and women include white, dark marine and palm.



The Barrier Crew ($60 SRP) and Barrier Hoody ($75 SRP) may be simplistic in design, but they pack a performance punch. Designed with the outdoor professional in mind, these layering pieces are made with ExOfficio’s Barrier Knit – 85% polyester/15% cotton, and feature dri- release® for rapid dry time and FreshGuard® for odor resistance. Men’s colors include white, dark palm, dark palm/khaki, light khaki, dark charcoal, light khaki/charcoal. Women’s colors include white, dark blossom, dark blossom/dark palm, dark palm, dark charcoal, and dark charcoal/dark blossom.

For guides and outfitters who consider their clothing as gear, the rugged Insect Shield® Ambush Pant ($90 SRP) is the piece to have. Designed for men and women in both design and fit, the pant is constructed with Ambush Canvas, a tough 100% nylon with a peach finish. The Ambush Pant for men features a partial elastic waist, diamond gusset for expanded range of motion, and ankle cinch to help keep debris and pests out The women’s Ambush Pant offers a natural fit that sits below the waist, contoured waistband, and front leg bellowed cargo pockets. The pant leg can be cinched into a 26 inch inseam. Colors for both men and women include light khaki and dark cigar.

An Insect Shield® ExCessory collection of hats, bandanas, and socks are offered to provide maximum protection against insects and sun.

ExOfficio Insect Shield® apparel contains Insect Shield® repellent technology – a man-made version of Permethrin, which is a natural insect repellent found in certain chrysanthemum plants that repels mosquitoes, ticks, ants, flies, chiggers and midges (no-see-ums). This active ingredient is tightly bound to the fibers in the fabric. It is invisible, odorless and can be machine-washed through 70 washings. Insect Repellent™ apparel can be ironed, starched, or pressed without any adverse effects on the repellent, but it cannot be dry-cleaned. It is also the first line of insect repellent apparel registered with the Environmental Protection Agency, EPA.
