JULIE WAFAEI AND COLIN ANGUS “THE NEW MAGELLANS” TO DELIVER KEYNOTE SESSION AT ADVENTURES IN TRAVEL EXPO
National Geographic ADVENTURE Journalists, Exotic Destination Reps and Travel Experts Round Out Extraordinary Seminar Line-up
Milford, CT, January 29, 2007 – Julie Wafaei and Colin Angus, winners of National Geographic ADVENTURE “Adventurers of the Year 2006” award, who circumnavigated the planet on human power, will kick off an impressive line-up of speakers at this year’s Adventures in Travel Expo coming to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont on January 27&28, 2007.
Julie Wafaei and Colin Angus will discuss their experiences as they crossed the Atlantic and Pacific oceans in a rowboat, and trekked, canoed, skied, and bicycled their way across 17 countries, 3 continents in 720 days.
The Expo will also bring together some of the best minds in adventure travel from the pages of National Geographic ADVENTURE magazine – true adventurers who have explored some of the most exciting and far-flung destinations on arth. They include Peter Potterfield, ADVENTURE contributor and author and editor of greatoutdoors.com who discusses his book Classic Hikes of the World. Another ADVENTURE magazine contributor speaking at the Expo is James Vlahos, writer and photographer who present a fun and thought-provoking session, “Tribe Wanted.” This session asks the question, “Who would join a modern-day tribe on a remote Pacific Island?” Attendees learn what happens when a virtual group of eco-minded travelers leave the chat room to become a real tribe on a real island with a real purpose.
Other sessions include: “Far from the Tourist Crowd: New Trends and Emerging Travel Destinations” with experts from Brazil and Asia; “Adventure Girl – The New Era of Women’s Travel” by Renee Werbin and Stephanie Oswald, publisher and editor-in-chief of travelgirl magazine; “Holidays that Help – Traveling on a Volunteer Vacation” with Alexia Nestora of I-to-I Meaningful Vacations, Sally Brown, Ph.D., President, Ambassadors for Children, and Stephen Fulmer of the Earthwatch Institutephilanthropic travel – vacations that do good work; and “Journey’s that Bind: Family Vacations” by Kathy Dragon, The Dragon’s Path and Eileen Ogintz, Taking the Kids to name just a few.
