ADVENTURE TRAVEL PROFESSIONALS TARGETED AS UNICOMM EXTENDS ADVENTURES IN TRAVEL EXPO BRAND
Company to Launch Adventure Travel Directory, Magazine and Adventure Professional Symposium in 2006
Milford, CT, March 27, 2007 – When Unicomm LLC began its foray into the adventure travel sphere three years ago with the introduction of the Adventures in Travel Expo (ATE), the company filled a niche for the burgeoning active and adventure travel marketplace. Now, after three years of producing the world’s leading series of adventure and travel shows, Unicomm is again ready to fulfill it’s customers’ demands for a more formal and organized marketplace with three major new introductions into the exploding adventure travel industry.
Unicomm has announced that in 2006, it will introduce the Adventures in Travel Directory, the Adventure Travel Professional Magazine – the first trade magazine solely dedicated to adventure travel professionals – and an Adventure Travel Professional Symposium to educate the trade and provide intense professional interaction for its customers.
Over the past three years, more than 150,000 consumers, 9,000 trade members and 1,600 exhibitor companies have participated in ten shows in five markets. “You can’t sit still in an industry that advances as fast as adventure travel,” says Unicomm CEO, John Golicz. “Our customers have been increasingly more sophisticated in how they market their offerings. More and more, we are being asked to provide additional information and training to travel agents, and to provide more in depth industry information to vendors. With the introduction of the directory, the magazine and the symposium, as well as the great work the Adventure Council is performing, we can now act as an industry clearinghouse of knowledge and travel provider interaction,” added Golicz.
Adventures in Travel Expo exhibitors will be able to extend their visibility in the new Adventures in Travel Directory, a high quality, four-color glossy magazine-like annual publication that will include listings of all ATE exhibitors and Adventure Council members – a virtual “Who’s Who” in adventure travel. The Adventure Council is an organization representing the global adventure and sustainable travel community. The directory will afford exhibitors additional opportunities to sponsor full pages of information, offer custom publishing options and paid advertisement opportunities. Initially, ATE will print 60,000 copies of the directory to be distributed to the trade and consumers at all ATE shows and mailed to all members of the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) as well as all Travel Industry Association (TIA) members, two of the biggest industry sponsors of the Adventures in Travel Expo.
In an effort to help active and adventure travel providers educate travel professionals including travel agents, tourism officers, travel retailers and wholesalers, and tour operators, Unicomm is launching the Adventure Travel Professional Magazine. The bi-monthly publication will be written by select industry experts and will provide information about everything new in the adventure travel marketplace. It will also have a news feed to yahoo.adventure.com.
Debuting with the July/August 2006 issue, the publication will be distributed free to over 25,000 trade professionals comprised of ASTA members, TIA members, the Adventures in Travel Expo trade attendees, National Geographic ADVENTURE database, and bonus distribution for all of the ATE shows and the ASTA THE TRADESHOW being held in Orlando this September.
Lastly, the Adventure Travel Professional Symposium, is an event organized by Unicomm and it’s affiliated Adventure Council that is designed for adventure travel outfitters, tour operators, hotels, resorts and destinations that sell adventure travel. Scheduled for the two days prior to the start of ASTA’s THETRADESHOW, September 8 & 9, 2006 at Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL, the symposium will cover important and timely business topics surrounding adventure travel, including market trends, technology solutions, sustainability issues and the nuts and bolts of operations. Unique to this industry event will be the inclusion of interactive networking sessions where participants can suggest topics on-line prior to the event and participants can schedule round tables to have free flow discussions of those topics with their peers.
“Adventure travel now occupies a large segment of the overall travel marketplace and we deserve to have platforms where we can gain and share tools and knowledge that are specific to our industry. The Adventures in Travel Expo has now completed a comprehensive set of marketing tools and events providing the means to target industry professionals and provide increased opportunities for visibility, networking and ultimately, growth,” says Costas Christ, President of The Adventure Council.
All of these exciting new developments are in addition to the line-up of popular ATE shows that are scheduled for the 2006/2007 season, first at THETRADESHOW at ASTA in Orlando (September 10 - 13, 2006), New York City (January 13 & 14, 2007), Chicago (January 27 & 28, 2007), The Los Angeles Times Travel Show (February 10 & 11, 2007) and Washington, DC (March 3 & 4, 2007).
“We have made a commitment to our customers to provide the ultimate forum for worldwide developments in the vast adventure travel arena and to create a central place where members of this large community may meet, share ideas, learn from each other, and increase their share of the travel industry. We know that together with our customers, the free flow of information between buyers and sellers of active and adventure travel is the only sure fire way to accelerate market growth,” Golicz concludes.
