As we enter into the year's end let me wish all of our friends from around the world, on behalf of all of us at the Travel & Adventure Shows a very Merry and blessed Christmas and Holiday Season plus a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year.

It's hard to imagine that show season is only four weeks away with our Chicago Travel & Adventure Show leading the way. Throughout 2013 in our newsletters, we have focused on how to raise ROI for exhibitors and what's working for others and best practices. Now that show season is upon us, I thought it might be helpful to share with you what attendees want.

We recently undertook an extensive research project on Travel & Adventure Show attendees through Mercury CSC, a leading consumer research and market intelligence firm focusing on Travel. The research was both Quantitative, with over 3,000 past attendees participating in the survey, as well as Qualitative, with dozens involved in our focus groups. The results reaffirmed many of our beliefs and, more importantly, presented us with some stunning new insights..

On Their Decision to Participate in the Shows:  The consumers are very well educated, travel savvy and they want to travel. The overall consumer knowledge of Maui County’s history and culture is great, and not only do they have the desire to find a favorite and popular destination, but they want an understanding of our unique islands.

On Generating Buzz:At our booth our signage, fresh plans and flowers and our traditional Aloha attire go along with our colorful Hawaiian prints from Pareau (lava lava). We try to be active in our booth no matter what location we’re at. We are representing a specific destination, so we always try to bring a sense of place to our booth – that’s most important!

With the 2014 Show Season being right around the corner, led by the Chicago Travel & Adventure Show, we wanted to introduce you to a familiar face.   In this month’s edition of Get to Know Us, we profile Unicomm COO/Travel & Adventure Show Producer, Jim Forberg.

Your best travel memory?

I’d have to say that my trip to Tuscany had a true balance of so many of the things that make travel important to me. First and foremost, Tuscany is just a remarkable place with its natural beauty, incredible history and truly amazing people. By visiting local attractions, olive oil factories, historical cities and dining out, I was instantly immersed in the Italian culture. Each day my wife and I biked over 30 miles through the countryside, cities and by the sea, usually stopping for some fabulous meals during the course of the day. With a passion for history – I found touring the Etruscan cities to be especially interesting and a step back in time. Even with a busy schedule, some of the most memorable times were just sitting next to a pool and gazing at the endless field of sunflowers.

At the Travel & Adventure Show, your success is important to us. From monthly newsletters, to Exhibitors Only webinars, to a 39 page Exhibitor Activation Guide, we strive to make sure that our exhibitors have all the tools they need in order to make the most of their TAS Experience. We're now proud to announce a new tool for all Exhibitors to take advantage of – Talking TAS.

New for the 2014 Travel & Adventure Show Series – the Interactive TAS Floor Plan. Designed by Map Dynamics, this new interface allows Show attendees to easily find exhibitors by name, booth number or location.
